Exterior

Villa Versilia is a stunning villa located in the Lucchesia region. Set amidst the unique Tuscan landscape, the villa looks over Lucca from its majestic position atop a hill.

The main building dates back to the Fifteenth century and it is surrounded by a gorgeous garden of flowers and olive trees. The garden is crowned by an original Renaissance bath of 9x3m which has been transformed into a lovely pool for a refreshing dip on hot summer days surrounded by sun loungers. This is a few steps below the authentic frescoed loggia, undoubtedly the best spot to linger over a drink at sunset admiring the views or to enjoy a leisurely meal al fresco.

Tucked in a private position within the extensive grounds is a raised lawn terrace and a second swimming pool cut out of the natural stone. This too boasts wonderful, unbroken views of the spectacular scenery.

Finally, to the side of the villa there is a large gravel terrace bordered by lawns and shaded by tall trees. More tables and chairs with parasols provide a more informal alternative for outdoor dining.

Interior

The interiors of Villa Versilia are just as stunning as the grounds. Totally restored just a few years ago, all the original features of the structure have been preserved- the “cotto” floors, hand-carved wooden beamed ceilings and the wrought iron details on the roof for example, which add to the grandeur of this elegant villa.

Stone fireplaces, frescoes and spacious halls and bedrooms also contribute to the regal atmosphere of the villa while providing a comfortable homely feel so the space is not imposing in the slightest.

The property is very large at approximately 1300sqm and laid out over three floors:

On the ground floor are three of the double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Full of character one was the original wine cellar and another was the former olive oil storage room. There are two spacious reception rooms on this level too, with a central fireplace. There is also the rustic-style kitchen, very large and fully-fitted for self-catering, even featuring a wood-burning oven (perfect for pizza nights!).

The next floor accommodates the former aristocratic daytime-quarters which include a majestic living-room where the original stone fireplace stills stands in pride of place. French doors open on to the beautiful loggia already mentioned and from where glorious views can be enjoyed. The dining room and study can be found here as well, and the old tower holds an additional living room with vaulted ceilings.

Finally, the second floor features an elegant hall from which the remaining six double bedrooms lead off, all are decorated with period pieces and have their own en suite bathrooms.
