Splendid Apartments in village-complex near Cortona, Tuscany

Exterior

More than two hundred years of history have shaped Borgo Melograno’s charming setting. Formerly the residence of local Cortona nobles, the village complex is now a wonderful area of romantic Tuscan buildings with stone walls and perfectly tended gardens. The renovated buildings which now accommodate these wonderful apartments were originally the barn, stables, manor house and storage buildings and their basic structure has been kept.

The infinity swimming pool is extremely large and positioned in a private location affording incredible views. It is also equipped with a hydro-massage feature for added pleasure. The pool is open all summer long from May 15 to September 30th. There is a lovely sun terrace just besides the pool where you can soak up the sunshine and also enjoy light lunches at the restaurant or refreshments at the bar all day long.

The village´s gardens are truly exquisite and a delight for all the senses, with orchards filled with 25 different kinds of fruit trees and lavender, rose and rosemary bushes emanating their delicious fragrances.

As in any real Tuscan hamlet, the Borgo includes its own chapel. This little frescoed church was completely restored to its original splendour using the ancient egg tempera technique. The lapis lazuli blue is particularly striking and resembles the Tuscan sky above as it lines the chapel´s vaulted celiling. This little chapel would be perfect for a  special wedding ceremony.

Borgo Melograno also features an excellent restaurant and bar that serve local cuisine and host themed nights during ´gastronomic week´.The restaurant is suitable for all occasions from intimate dinners to casual family gatherings to business meetings. The conference room on site accommodates up to 70 people and has state-of-the art equipment and helpful staff on hand. For any special event such as a dinner or a wedding banquet the Borgo offers the Limonaia, a structure for up to 140 sitting guests, particularly beautiful due to its stained-glass feature windows.

Interior

There are 8 apartments at Borgo Melograno, each one finely furnished with original antique Tuscan furniture, fine fabrics and soft hues to welcome guests. Modern amenities such as internet connection, television, telephone and safe, among others, are included in all apartments.

All apartments are large with an accommodating capacity ranging from 4 to 8 people. Each apartment name takes its inspiration from local farming activities and products: Seta, Olio, Frantoio, Uva, Stalliere, Fattore, Guardiacaccia and Giardiniere. These names correspond appropriately with the building´s original use: for example Frantoio used to be the village´s oil-press, just as Stalliere used to be the groom´s house.
