Location in Tuscany

Exteriors
More than two hundred years of history have sculpted Borgo Melograno’s charming outdoors. Formerly the residence of local Cortona’s nobles, the hamlet is nowadays a wonderful composition of romantic Tuscan buildings with stone walls and perfectly tended gardens flourishing with lush flowers intersecting green lawns and gravel paths to each apartment.
The town of Cortona nears the Borgo, wonderfully perched on the side of the hill.
The structure of the hamlet has remained unchanged during the centuries. It is still recognizable the life of the peasants of the Borgo observing the architecture and the use that was made of each building. The barn, the staples, the manor house and storage buildings stand in the same exact place and have been renovated to accommodate wonderful apartments near Cortona.
The infinity swimming pool is extremely large and positioned in a very panoramic and private location. It measures 20 by 10 meters in size featuring a hydro massage zone and a very scenic descending staircase with stone pillars. Open from May 15 to September 30th, the pool offers the perfect refreshing spot. The terrace is just besides the pool. Here the restaurant offers full and light lunches that can also be enjoyed by the poolside. The bar offers refreshments all day long.
From the terrace in front of the restaurant of the Borgo it is possible to enjoy the superb surroundings of the hamlet, enriched by orchards with 25 different kinds of fruit trees. Lavender, rose, and rosemary bushes decor the garden donating a classic Mediterranean fragrance to your stay. Beyond the 9 acres of private park you’ll admire miles of waving hills patched with sunny and earthy colors of cultivations.
As any true Tuscan hamlet, the Borgo includes its own chapel. The splendid frescoed little church was completely restored to the original splendor thanks to ancient techniques using lapis-lazuli powder and eggs to color the vault of the chapel. The intense, bright blue resembles the Tuscan sky, as if the vault opened up over your head. This little chapel is perfect for celebrating very special religious wedding ceremonies.
Interiors
The interiors of each apartment are naturally scented with the same fragrances of the garden.
There are 8 apartments at Borgo Melograno, each one finely furnished with original antique Tuscan furniture, fine fabrics and soft hues to welcome each guest. Modern amenities such as Wi-Fi Internet connection, TV set, in-room telephone and personal safe, among others, are included in all apartments.
All apartments are extremely large with a maximum occupancy ranging from 4 to 8 people.
Each apartment name takes inspiration from local farming activities and products: Seta, Olio, Frantoio, Uva, Stalliere, Fattore, Guardiacaccia and Giardiniere. Each name is not given by chance: for example Frantoio used to be the oil mill of the Borgo, just as Stalliere used to be the house of the groom man.
Borgo Melograno also features an excellent restaurant and a tavern-bar that provide guests with two elegant ways of enjoying the original Tuscan food prepared by expert hands and presented to you masterfully to satisfy any occasion. The restaurant is ideal for intimate dinners, friend reunions, and business meetings.
To satisfy business logistics needs the conference room at the Borgo is perfect. Set in an old brick vaulted cellar, it accommodates up to 70 people with services, state-of-the-art equipment, and help staff.
