Exterior
This charming and luxurious villa is built on the site of an Old Roman fort located near the Tuscan border with Umbria, near the villages of Anghiari, the prettiest hilltop walled town in Italy, and Sansepolcro where Piero della Francesca was born and painted, is 10 minutes away and the museum has many of his frescos, a "must" to be seen. It is also the perfect place to embark on excursions to the many medieval and renaissance towns nearby.
There are many activities in the area apart from site seeing, such as tennis, riding and glorious walks through the oaks and chestnut wooden hills. In the summer there are many outdoor festivals, concerts, jousting and archery competitions, often in renaissance costume. There are many fine and excellent restaurants within minutes of the villa. You could also do a wine tour and tasting or take some cooking classes. If you have an adventurous streak, there are hundreds of kilometers of trails in the area, some across mountains, others through the forest.
On site there is a lawn for archery, badminton, volleyball, and in the villa are books for all ages, puzzles, toys and games, ping pong, table football, a baby grand piano and a guitar. On the upper terrace there is a pergola with table and chairs for 10 overlooking the pool (12x6m) with a view up the valley to the mountains. The lower terrace also has a dining table for 10 with barbeque, under an old oak tree looking down over the lake to the mountains beyond.
Interior
The interior of this two-story villa is just as stunning as its exterior. Entering the villa, you’ll find a large high ceilinged open space connecting the dining area, living room and kitchen.
The dining table is long and has seating for up to 14 guests. The sofas and the armchairs of the living room surround a warm fireplace, from where one can watch TV or chat to the elected cook, while the kitchen has all the necessary amenities to create delicious al fresco meals.
On the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with access to the lower terrace. It has a comfortable queen-sized bed and a spacious en suite bathroom.
Moving upstairs, you’ll find 4 spacious and luminous bedrooms, with chestnut beamed ceilings. One of the bedrooms has a four-poster bed and an en suite Jacuzzi bathroom, with access to the balcony overlooking the lake. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and access to the upper terrace, another has a pair of twin beds, and the last has a double bed. There is also a shower room and the hall with the baby grand piano which leads out onto the upper terrace and the pool.
This luxurious and charming villa is the perfect place for groups or families looking for a relaxing getaway under the Tuscan sun.
